Award-winning Australian furniture house, KING, adds another to its long list of accolades following the recent 2021 Good Design Awards Week. Fleur was named the Good Design Awards Winner in the Product Design category in recognition for its outstanding design and innovative features. The Australian Good Design Awards is the country’s oldest and most prestigious international awards for design and innovation with a proud history dating back to 1958. The Awards showcase the best new products and services on the Australian and international market, and rewards excellence in architectural design, precinct design, engineering, fashion, digital and and communication design. It also rewards new and emerging design ideas in areas such as design strategy, social impact design, design research and up-and-coming design talent in the Next Gen category.
The Good Design Awards Jury commented: “Fleur feels like a friendly and soft step away from the usual look and feel for KING. The flexibility of the back rest system does not look like the typical “flexible” sofa back, but rather a stunning collection of sofas and chairs that exude comfort from a clean and elegant form. The opening arms seem so inviting and the footrests are a fantastic addition.”
Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said: “Receiving an Australian Good Design Award is testament to embedding design excellence at the heart of a product, service, place or experience. Although 2021 continues to be another challenging year, it is incredibly inspiring to see designers and businesses working together to find innovative, customer-centric design solutions to local and global challenges and to see them recognised and rewarded for their efforts through these prestigious Awards.”
With its curvilinear and soft silhouette crafted to maximise seating and with comfot in mind, Fleur features a sophisticated and versatile design that is perfect for lounging or entertaining. Along with the luxurious, sink-in comfort that KING sofas are renowned for, its integrated folding backrests offer dual seating positions – which allows for the easy transition of a visually low profile when folded down, to an elevated yet deeper seat with high-back and head support when required. Designed to easily adapt to individual comfort, lifestyle needs and living environments, the arms of the sofa can also be adjusted to switch from a relaxed setting to a more formal look in mere seconds.
