Down Hall Announce Royal Afternoon Tea to Celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Date:

Stunning country house hotel & spa, Down Hall, is celebrating Her Majesty’s 70th year on the throne with a delicious afternoon tea that’s a truly royal affair! Running from 27th May – 12th June, take a trip to the glorious Essex countryside to celebrate Her Royal Highness’ remarkable milestone and raise a glass to the reign of Queen Elizabeth.

Served between 2 – 5:30pm on the hotel’s beautiful al fresco terrace or in the elegant and recently refurbished lounge, the Royal Afternoon Tea begins with a Dubonnet cocktail, the Queen’s favourite aperitif, served over ice.

Next up, three decadent tiers of dainty finger sandwiches, scones and cakes. Quintessentially British sandwiches include smoked salmon with dill mayonnaise; cucumber with chive infused cream cheese; and roast ham with piccalilli; whilst baked fruit and plain scones are freshly baked and complemented by clotted cream and English heritage Tiptree jam. Cakes and pastries are a right royal affair with choices such as red velvet cake; strawberry tart; white chocolate and rose mousse and Her Majesty’s favourite dessert of chocolate tiffin!

The afternoon tea is priced at £40 Monday – Friday, and £45 on the weekend and includes the Dubonnet cocktail and your choice of loose-leaf tea. Guests are welcome to add a glass of house champagne for an additional £10!

Celebrate this momentous year in history at Down Hall and book your spot with the reservations team at 01279 731441.
