Free Will Astrology Horoscopes for the Week of 15 August 2026

Date:

Free Will Astrology horoscopes for the week of 15 August 2026 are here, with Rob Brezsny offering each sign a distinct piece of practical philosophy drawn from mathematics, engineering, Roman road-building and the art of mosaic-making.

The Week’s Themes: Courage, Craft and Careful Questions

Brezsny’s columns rarely settle for abstract encouragement, and this week is no exception. Several signs receive their guidance through concrete analogies rooted in history or science. Virgo is pointed toward the example of Katherine Johnson (1918–2020), the mathematician who became known as a ‘human computer’ and whose work informed NASA‘s early space missions. Brezsny quotes her approach: she asked the right questions until the numbers disclosed their hidden patterns. His advice to Virgos follows directly from that: ‘Instead of forcing quick and simple answers, focus on dreaming up the smartest questions.’

Scorpio is handed a different kind of preparation. Brezsny draws on the engineering practice of simulating failures before a spacecraft ever leaves the ground, and inverts it. The task for Scorpios is not to rehearse disaster but to rehearse courage: to visualise responding ‘with creativity, grace, and humor whenever life springs surprises and unexpected blessings.’

Taurus gets Roman road-building as its model. Brezsny notes that some roads constructed two thousand years ago are still usable today because workers ‘dug deep foundations, then layered stones, gravel, and sand before placing the final surface.’ The sign is urged to apply the same thoroughness to whatever stability upgrades it is currently undertaking, with Brezsny explicit that laziness or haste will not serve here.

Leo is told that its current high spirits are precisely the asset needed to confront what Brezsny calls ‘The Dilemma That Refuses to Fade.’ The suggestion is that a period of vitality creates an advantage that might not recur, and even if the dilemma cannot be fully resolved, its capacity to drain energy can be sharply curtailed now.

Libra receives the mosaic metaphor: each small detail being assembled in life may be part of a larger, coherent image that is not yet fully visible. Sagittarius is asked to distinguish between ‘horizon goals’ (orientations that guide direction indefinitely) and ‘destination goals’ (aims that are actually meant to be reached). The horizon line, Brezsny notes, is always about three miles away at sea level and moves as you walk toward it: some ambitions operate the same way.

Capricorn is offered what Brezsny describes as his ‘normally $600-per-hour advice’ at a significantly reduced rate: resist the pull of the familiar past and move instead toward the life ahead. Aquarius hears that its allure is running higher than usual, with different guidance depending on whether the sign is single or partnered. Those in monogamous relationships are encouraged to expand variety within the bond rather than outside it, through shared role-play and imaginative scenarios set in historical periods.

Pisces is given a distinction between human thought and machine processing. Neural signals travel at over 200 miles per hour, Brezsny notes, while electrical impulses in computers may travel at half the speed of light. The apparent slowness of human thought is reframed as its strength: ‘They’re creating meaning, not just moving data.’ The advice is to resist imitating machines and to ruminate at an unhurried pace.

Aries receives a story: Brezsny says he retrieved a crumpled love note from a post office bin, addressed to ‘My Lush and Luminous Aries Laugh-Lover’, which urged its recipient to be a ‘rowdy investigator of wonders and miracles.’ Gemini is appointed, with some ceremony, to the role of ‘Chief Role Model’ for smart loving across all situations, and ‘Chief Administrator of Amazing Grace.’ Cancer is promised encounters that will, in Brezsny’s careful phrasing, ‘flood you with reverent feelings and turn your inner life deliciously upside down.’
